Town of Princeton, Mass., Selectboard Goal Setting Meeting Minutes
– June 27, 2018 – 1:45 PM – Fire Station #2
        Present:  Chair Richard Bisk, Karen Cruise & Edith Morgan w/ TA Nina Nazarian.

1:55 PM  Richy opened the meeting in Fire Station #2.

Board/Committee Appointments (continued) – Nina reported that she communicated with Town Counsel to obtain a determination of whether or not a Conservation Commission member must reside in the town, and she was advised that there was no statutory requirement of residency.

ACTION: On a motion made by Richy, seconded by Karen the Board voted all in favor to appoint Sue Michell to the Conservation Commission, contingent upon being sworn in, and the completion of the Open Meeting law and Municipal Ethics requirements as well as the return of a signed copy of receipt of the Town of Princeton’s Sexual Harassment Policy, without any residency restrictions.

Goals Session #1 for FY19 – Topics discussed included:
  • The Selectboard reviewed the FY18 goals.
  • The role of the preferred role of the Selectboard and the TA and where they may overlap and areas where they do not need to, for example, the Selectboard not being involved with day to day matters.
  • Should the Selectboard be 3 or 5 members.
  • Number of Advisory Committee members, what should be the role, etc.
  • Community space and/or Council on Aging needs.
  • Does the town administrator need assistance (e.g. assistant town administrator).
  • Is there a possibility to reduce the tax burden to residents.
